At Surveyreference, we are committed to protecting the privacy of our members and site visitors. We have designed our website and programs with data protection in mind. We are based in the United Kingdom and all data we collect is stored on machines located in the United States. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 13. If you are 13-17, you must ensure that a parent or legal guardian gives you permission to sign up for a Surveyreference account. We strive to be super transparent. If you have any questions about our collection or processing of your data, or if you would like to exercise any privacy-related rights, you can email us at [email protected].
The information we collect automatically from everyone.
Our servers automatically record information about each visit to our website, including the visitor's IP address, browser/device information, referring URL and pages viewed. This is necessary for fraud prevention purposes, which is our legitimate interest. We will retain this information for no more than three years, unless we are required by law to retain it for a longer period.
Key information we collect from members.
When you fill out our registration form to join Surveyreference, we collect your name, email address, country, and, if you choose, a username and password, and sometimes we also collect (if you provide it) your state/province, gender, and date of birth. After you fill out our registration form and/or confirm your email address, your IP address will also be recorded along with the date and time. We will only retain all of this information for as long as you remain a member of Surveyreference, unless we are required by law to retain it for a longer period of time. All of this information is necessary to prevent fraud, which is a legitimate interest of ours. We also use your country, state/province, gender and date of birth to prevent showing you many offers/advertisements that do not apply and gift card redemption options that do not apply. This is necessary for our legitimate interests to keep our site from flooding all of our members with mostly irrelevant content. We use your email address to send you information about your Surveyreference account, which is necessary for our legitimate interest in preventing fraud and being able to meet our members' customer service needs. In addition, we may use your email address to send you email marketing information, information about third party offers and/or information about opportunities to participate in surveys or market research communities/groups. This is for our legitimate interest in processing the information for direct marketing purposes. To opt out, you can follow the unsubscribe instructions at the bottom of the specific email message or you can email us at [email protected].
Other information we may collect from our members.
If you visit the account profile page in the members area of our website, you have the option to tell us what your PayPal email address is. We will only retain this information for as long as you are a member of Surveyreference, unless we are required by law to retain it for a longer period of time. We will only use this information to enable us to send payments to your PayPal account.
Other information we may obtain about our members.
When you complete or attempt to complete a rewardable product from one of our advertising partners, the advertising partner may send us a notification that includes your username, your IP address, and your browser/device information. We collect this information to enable us to assign appropriate credit to your Surveyreference account for your specific interaction with the offer and to assist us in protecting our business from fraud. We retain this information for as long as it is necessary for our legitimate interests.
Information you may share when using our website.
Once you are logged into the members area of our site, you will have the opportunity to share your username, IP address and browser/device information with our various advertising partners, depending on which pages of our site you choose to visit. Please note that these advertising partners may be located in areas of the world that do not have fairly strong data privacy laws and may not typically protect information to the same extent as companies based in the European Union.
If you decide to view the "Videos" section of our site (also known as "Watching Videos"), you will share your user name, IP address, and browser/device information with one or more of our video advertising partners. From our perspective, this sharing is important so that they will have enough information to be able to show you relevant video offers that you can make as rewards on our site so that they will be able to tell us when you have completed a video offer that should be rewarded on our site. If you decide to accept cookies, this sharing also allows you to easily link your Surveyreference account to the account you created on their site so that you can be rewarded on our site for watching videos on their site without you having to log in to our site first.
If you decide to visit the "Surveys" section (also known as "Take a Survey") or the "Offers" section (also known as "Offer Wall") of our site, or click on a link to a specific survey provider or offer wall provider, you will share your user name, IP address and browser/device information with our market research advertising partners and offer wall advertising partners, respectively. From our perspective, this sharing is important so that they will have enough information to be able to show you relevant surveys/offers that you can be rewarded for so that they can tell us when you have completed a survey/offer that should be rewarded on our site.
When you use our site, your username will sometimes be visible in the address bar and/or status bar of your web browser. Your user name may also be stored in cookies on your machine. If you decide to share your Surveyreference referral URL or any special promotional links you create on our site, your username will also be shared with all recipients and may be stored as a cookie on the recipient's machine. This is to allow you to receive appropriate referral credit for new members who sign up through your Surveyreference link. In addition, when you decide to share a special promotional link you create on our site, your username may also be shared with our special promotional link advertisers and their own advertisers who are associated with the site your special promotional link visitor loads in the frame of our special promotional link page. From our perspective, this is done so that we can properly credit you on our site for actions taken by your special promotional link visitor on our special promotional link advertiser's site.
More information about Cookies.
In addition, we may share any information if we are required to do so by law, if it is part of a fraud investigation, if we believe in good faith that we must otherwise disclose something to protect our rights, or if it is in response to a lawful request by a public agency for law enforcement or national security purposes. If all or part of our business assets are sold, or if our company is involved in a merger or transfer, your information may be shared as part of that process, but we will take all necessary steps to protect your personal information as required by law.
